WDS Strategic Targets 2014–2018

• Make trusted data services an integral part of international collaborative scientific research
• Nurture active disciplinary and multidisciplinary scientific data services communities
• Improve the funding environment
• Improve the trust in and quality of open Scientific Data Services
• Position ICSU-WDS as the premium global multidisciplinary network for quality-assessed scientific research data

At its 9th Meeting (17–18 October 2013; Tokyo, Japan), the WDS Scientific Committee (WDS-SC) began formulation of a Strategic Plan for ICSU-WDS for the period 2014–2018. Alongside this document, it also generated an Implementation Plan listing Actions towards achieving the proposed Strategic Targets.

Inviting comments from WDS Members on both texts, the SC returned to the drafts at its 10th Meeting (31 March–02 April 2014; Paris, France), and continued to refine their content.

In contrast, the Implementation Plan is intended as a dynamic online resource that can be updated by the WDS-SC as required.
